Topic: APPRECIATION FOR PROTECTION
Text : Job 1:6-10

6: Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan came also among them.
7: And the Lord said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.
8: And the Lord said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?
9: Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought?
10: Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.

As we go through days, weeks, months and years, evil occurrences befall people, we only hear about them they don't come near us as God promised us in Psalms 91: 7,8.
We some times feel that we have right to live by our making, we reason like a baby who is being carried but feels he is up by himself until when the person who carries him puts him down.

As we sleep and wake to see the dawn of each day someone makes it possible, at other times we feel because we can drive well that is the reason we have not experienced accident, the answer is simply no, some professional drivers have lost their lives to accident. Ooh how often do we feel it is because we plan well or work well that is the reason we are able put food on our tables, live in good houses and pay our bills?

Our passage today is the conversation between God and Satan, to my amazement God started the conversation, he started by saying ' have you considered my Satan Job, there is none like him in the earth ', Satan replied by giving God a good answer: Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.

In other words the Devil was saying ' what is special about him? you know of course you made him special, you built an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he has on every side '. Satan was correct here, you will notice that God did not argue with him further, that is the basic truth, Job was living fine because God has built an hedge about all that he has.

This is truth about every man that is living fine, it is not by anyone's making, but because God is watching over all he has and does. God deserves all glory for this, none of us is better than those who have died, those living wretched, those who are sick etc. God in his infinite mercies has preserved us all, we all owe him unending praise, daily appreciation for he is good and for his mercies endureth forever.
